Client: Ballymun Regeneration Limited
The brief was to design a residential development, as part of the
BRL Masterplan, on a 3.4-acre site which is part of an existing
underused open space on the south boundary of Ballymun, that backs
onto existing private housing. Through consultation with BRL and
Tenant Groups a brief for a scheme of predominantly 2-storey housing
with 20% own hall door apartments evolved.
The design solution was based on the development of two concepts.
A house type with a staggered party wall, to achieve a Lifetime
Home solution for 3 and 4 bed house types and a layout of clustered
houses in small pedestrian priority, shared surface cul-de-sacs.
In addition, the apartments were designed as 3 storey blocks to
act as focal points within the scheme.
